I ain’t ever hear people start calling us “caribbeans” until social media over the last few years and then now everybody says it. But growing up it’s always been “Caribbean ppl” or “West Indians”. Never “caribbeans”
57% of Caribbean people speak Spanish. 27% of Caribbean people speak French. Adding ‘s’ is the norm to pluralize the term in French and Spanish. Adding ‘s’ is the norm for the overwhelming majority of Caribbean people.
But the non-English people wouldn't say Caribbeans either. It would be translated.
