"Raw sewage and toilet paper filmed flowing into River Fowey." Now what was @SouthWestWater saying just 2 days ago about how soft and cuddly they are and that they're not really a money leaching, profiteering, sewage dumping water company after all? cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-…
If you watch anything to today. Let it be this. The opening sequence of @BethRigby interview with Prime Minister Liz Truss. Beth demonstrating the courage we would all wish for, if ever faced with Truss. Nonetheless, truly one of the most cutting interview openings in years.

That's a SEVENTEEN point switch from Tories to Labour in just four days. In 1997 the switch was 16 points. Bonkers.
So @Ofwat are trying to avoid scrutiny by the High Court. There's a surprise. The sooner the water industry and regulators are dragged into court the sooner those responsible can be held accountable.

Kwarteng - another of Eton's great contributions to the UK.
The government has lost control of the economy. It’s going to mean higher mortgages and higher prices. And what for? Unfunded tax cuts for the one per cent. They must recall parliament today and abandon this act of economic self-harm.

Wow, this is phenomenal. Emily Maitlis (@maitlis) is absolutely ripping into this government’s erosion of democracy, standards and institutions. It’s not normal, she says - and we should not accept it as normal. 👏👏👏
The law was already clear, dumping sewage into the environment was and had been illegal for decades. European Court of Justice confirmed that in 2012. The question they should have been asking and now seem unable to answer, is why weren't gov pressing @Ofwat to enforce the law.
Short 🧵 on sewage: Following a complaint, in 2012 the EU Commission took the UK Gov to the European Court Justice over allowing water companies to dump sewage into rivers. Court ruled it was illegal and that sewage overflows should only ever be used in "exceptional situations"
