The reason student debt is so high and why repayment or forgiveness are the only options is that you can't be relieved of student debt in bankruptcy. File Chapter 7 bankruptcy and you can get rid of medical debt. You should know this and understand this if you talk about it.
I know there are different rules applicable in terms of executive authority but I think if you are going to forgive a portion of student debt other forms of debt should be on the table too. Medical comes to mind.

1. Attend every class without fail + sit in the front row. 2. Use every support resource available to you (e.g., office hours, tutoring, writing help, study groups, etc.) 3. Put every class, deadline, commitment, vacation, etc. in your calendar when you first learn of it.
