In contrast UBP profits down 26.5% to P9.2B, missing estimates. The disappointing results were largely due to higher than expected provision and opex, which more than offset the strong growth in net interest income.
BPI 23’ profits up 30.5% to P51.7B, beating our estimates due to higher than expected net interest income & non-interest income. Loans grew 10.5% y/y and net interest margin expanded. Return on equity reached 15.4%.
