Don't make long flashcards! This is the #1 mistake I see. Long flashcards = pain. - Your working-term memory is extremely limited ("7 ± 2") - The temptation to cheat on partially-recalled cards is too high. - The card scheduler can't get precise enough. Break cards up:

Instead, capture what resonates Now, what does that mean? It means that the information you want to save triggered something inside you They inspired you, surprised you, and even provoked you You can google facts, but you can't google a feeling

Don't capture what you can easily google It doesn't make much sense to note down the population of France, in case you need that information someday You can just look up the latest number in a heartbeat

4) Learn how to Google A few useful tricks: - 'site::[URL]' searches a specific site (this is also ~usually~ better than using a site's own search bar) - Sometimes the Images tab will get you to an answer faster than the All tab - Be willing to search multiple terms (see #5)

1) Imitate, Assimilate, Innovate The jazz legend Clark Terry preached this method for learning how to improvise, but it works for everything else too. Copy the great solos in order to learn the "language" of jazz. Learn the techniques, then change it up and do something new.
