The only thing worse than the family who takes public money to send their kids to private schools is the church that increases their school’s tuition because families are taking public money to send their kids to private schools. #oklaed
Remember when Mayor Holt told a few of Councilmembers that the Thunder didn’t need to be part of any conversations about a Community Benefits Agreement because “they have nothing to do with this”? 😑😵💫 #gaslightgatekeepgirlboss
You can like the Thunder, want OKC to be “big league,” and keep the economic value of having an NBA team while also NOT wanting to be completely DUPED by a bunch of BILLIONAIRES and uphold the rich get richer and the poor get poorer status quo. Vote No and require renegotiation.
22 Oklahoma-based finance and economics PhDs have signed a letter of dissent against the OKC Arena tax proposal. They specifically refute the economic development claims made by the Greater OKC Chamber. Vote NO on Dec 12th! Please share.
Economists agree. Also the mental gymnastics folks are going through to justify paying off billionaires that don't need it is wild.
It makes my head spin when I see ppl saying tourists and ppl traveling into OKC for Thunder games are our sales tax base. I am SURE that's not true considering I ,as a resident of OKC, spend almost ALL my money here, not just dinner after a game.
Op-ed: OKC continues racist economic history with arena tax vote "This OKC arena tax vote will be a $500 million dollar wealth extraction from the Black and Brown communities of OKC," writes OK Progress Now Executive Director Nabilah Rawdah. bit.ly/3T8JIqS
OKC's arena tax is a nearly direct wealth transfer from the many to the few. Given our racist economic development history, taxing a 47% Black and brown population to give resource to the 8 white families who own the Thunder continues that racist legacy. Vote NO Dec 12th!

Oklahoma City voters are being asked to approve one of the worst stadium subsidy deals in history. There's no reason taxpayers should cover 95 PERCENT of the costs to build a new arena, especially when they'd be replacing one they built just 20 years ago.
