This week, Alabama is highlighting mathematics with NUMERACY NOVEMBER! Our students are working in whole groups and small to improve their number sense skills and strengthen conceptual understanding.
Just getting around to celebrating these ladies and their students’ growth through Kindergarten Coaching Cycles! The students showed gains from bw 6-22% proficient to 70-80% proficiency. So proud of the KITTEN, COW, and BUFFALO classes.
CCPS teachers are the BEST! Our First Grade teachers met after students dismissed (on the last day) to plan and prepare for next year. It is such a privilege to work with educators who continually work to improve the craft. @eshaddix1 @Emily_Hines_CCS

I had the best time this past week working with our Kindergarten classes to “egg hunt” and create class pictographs to show and interpret data! Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend.

Miss Wilhite and her WOLVES are diving deep into kindergarten math standards. Through small-group instruction and higher order questioning, the students are explaining teen numbers and were up to 88% proficient from 61%! Way to go Wolves.
It’s been such a pleasure working with Kindergarten on composing/decomposing teen numbers and questioning about the underlying “ten” in teen numbers.
So proud of Mrs. Jessica Brooks and her Zebra Class for the growth they have shown in the past weeks during our Coaching Cycle. Her class improved from 22% proficient pre-assessment to 83% on the post assessment! They are explaining their mathematical thinking. Way to go ZEBRAS.
CCPS kindergarteners are working hard on counting collections and comparing amounts up to 10. Love seeing our students counting and discussing mathematical concepts with partners.
I have learned so much working through my first Student-Center Coaching Cycle. Thank you to Keri Bates for her hard work during Number Talks and for pushing her students to explain their thinking. Her class achieved 88% proficiency from 56% in just 2 weeks! See the pre/post.
