An SFO investigation code-named #OperationSteamroller, will be returning more than £1 million to over 200 victims of the largest “boiler room” #fraud ever pursued by a UK authority. Read the full story 👇 ow.ly/m8Bp50IUCBB
The SFO’s 7 year investigation resulted in fraudster Jeffrey Revell-Reade being sentenced to 9 years and 9 months in prison and given a confiscation order of around £7.5 million. Since then, the SFO has relentlessly pursued Revell-Reade’s illicit gains.
Over £3 million has already been returned to Revell-Reade’s victims and with the help of international partners in 🇪🇸, the SFO has now succeeded in securing new compensation funds through the settlement of a luxury penthouse apartment in the Costa del Sol.
Revell-Reade’s scheme conned UK investors out of around £70m. Sales entities pressure-sold shares in US-listed companies but when investors came to sell those shares, they found them to be worthless – they belonged to either shell companies or companies not operating at all.
A delighted victim reacted to the news: “I dropped a tear. Being caught up in that boiler room scam has had, and continues to have, an impact on my life. "I am so grateful to the SFO for pursuing and continuing to pursue these criminals across the different countries.”
