Mike Harrison, Lunesdale Rotary spoke about his 1935 Austin Ruby, a restoration project bought for £125. This required a full rewire, restored body panels, a replacement sunroof, the original seats reupholstered in leather & respray to Westminster Green with Black Wings.


Carnforth Rotary Bowling team were successful in their match against Garstang and Over Wyre Club. The match was held at St Michaels Bowling Club. The photo shows the members of the two teams.

This month marks 35 years since the GPEI was formed to deliver on a historic promise: the worldwide eradication of polio. Since then, cases have been reduced by 99.9%! But, we can’t stop now. Global commitment is vital to #EndPolio so no child is paralyzed by this disease again.

@CarnforthRotary Rotarian, David Alexander gave an interesting and entertaining talk on Poetry for the Music Halls, where actors used poetry, in the form of monologues, to engage with their audiences. Some were long recitations of events, often recounted in gruesome detail.


Nick Ward gave an interesting talk on how the 3 bells in St Cuthbert’s Church, Over Kellet are unsafe and are going to be replaced by 8 bells from a redundant Church in Accrington. The total cost will be £100,000, which can be reduced by people getting involved or by donating.

Charlotte Ellwood, North West Cancer Research, spoke about discovering new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent the disease. They are using medical records to produce an interactive, post code map, showing the level of cancers occurring in our area from Morecambe to Barrow.


@carnforthrotary is twinned with Rotary Club of Altena in the Netherlands. We were pleased to welcome two of their members, Jelle and Freek to our meeting on the 30th March. We look forward to working on more joint projects in the near future.


A fantastic District 1190 Conference yesterday, all about Youth, what they do and how we can work together. The speakers were excellent, there are many amazing people out there. Many thanks to The Herdy Company Kendal for their donations to the goodie bags.

@CarnforthRotary welcomed Chris Englefield from The Lancaster Men’s Hub to their meeting. He explained their mission is to create well-being through doing, which judging by their 54 male and 6 female members they are doing a splendid job. Keep up the good work.

Carnforth Rotarians ran the Chocobola stall at the Christmas lights switch on in Market Square. The stall was very colourful with lots of donated chocolate goodies. It was a very busy evening with everyone being a winner. The prize of course was chocolate in some shape or form.

@CarnforthRotary 6 local primary schools took part in the Choir competition. First place,Bolton-Le-Sands Primary, 2nd Slyne with Hest St. Luke's Primary & 3rd Carnforth Community. Each choir sang the set piece 'Let a Candle Shine' followed by their own choice. Well done all.
