$JPM and $GS both announcing expectations for oil in the $30s by 2027?

OIL MARKET: JPMorgan releases 2027 oil market S/D and price forecasting, arguing that he glut of 2026 will go into a second year. Absent an (OPEC+) intervention, the bank says the back-to-back oil glut will drive Brent into the low $50s by next year and the $30s in 2027.

E&P stocks with duration are broaching highs while prompt WTI is around $60. Implicitly pricing in a longer term higher price. Market sniffing out the upturn despite near term sentiment. Don’t be surprised if WTI is $75 in a year and some E&P equities are flat.

The 1st Permian well was drilled in 1920. The Santa Rita #1 (Reagan) was drilled in 1923 and is credited for kick starting the Permian. Producing oil for 102 years... good luck if you EVER thought TRILLIONS of dollars of hydrocarbons were going to be left behind.

What America is good at: arbitrage and inventing things. If you thought the U.S. O&G industry was going to stop at a 15% recovery factor of hydrocarbons in the ground, you haven't been paying attention to the U.S. energy industry over the last 100 years. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

COLUMN: Never underestimate the American (petroleum) engineer. Call it shale 4.0 — an arms race to squeeze more oil from existing wells. Today, American drillers recover, at best, 10-15% of the shale oil in place. That could soon change. @Opinion bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
