For Christmas Eve, a festive-ish 🧵 about my trip to Dumbarton Castle. The fortress sits on Scotland’s west coast, controlling the river Clyde. It is one of the oldest inhabited areas in Scotland, with history that runs from ancient Arthurian legend to 1860s invasion scares 1/10
