Here's an example of an angle pick-and-roll, as described by NBA on NBC. Giddey gives a common sign for it, slashing his hand down at an angle.

This was a great segment on the strategy of a basic play that you see all the time, and why it works (wish broadcasts explained the why more like this). A lot of info packed in there for beginners. Here are their takeaways to remember: 📐Angle pick-and-roll 📐 -The angle set…

Look at the defense from Matas Buzelis. Gets skinny over the screen, jams the ball right back at Anunoby, then stuffs the next pass with his wrists (he drew a foul on the lob)

Really enjoying Giddey's off-ball movement to start the season. Always looking for cuts, particularly against defenders who lack awareness. He's not just parking himself behind the line waiting to be ignored.

Phoenix had their best defensive showing yesterday (108.6 Drtg | 84.4 in the halfcourt), & it's not a coincidence that it aligns with Mark Williams 1st start 20 points | 12 rebounds | 5 stocks Let's look at his two-way impact 🧵

Bulls so far: - No. 3 in passes made - No. 2 in assist rate - No. 3 in shortest average time per touch - No. 1 in drives I think those are sustainable. Having the league's best defense (with 26% opponent three-point shooting) definitely is not. More from my column today:

Confidence of Matas Buzelis was on full display in last night’s 4th. Bulls down 103-102, he attacks Okongwu and finishes with the lefty extension. Game tied 118-118, he pulls up and drains the triple. More great signs from the youngster.

To me, this crunch time ATO encapsulates how the Bulls have opened 3-0. It's not a crazy complicated set (Pistol 5 - zoom), but the timing, reads, ball/player movement, and execution are perfect. The Bulls aren't out-talenting teams, they're just playing extremely solid ball.

San Antonio Spurs- 'Shorting' The Pick and roll. Good tactic against traps. 2 on the ball, so Harrison Barnes lifts from the corner to create an easy triangle passing option.

Motion offense is everywhere, Step ball-screens, 45s to clear the rotation on the roller, pace on the ball-screen from the handoff The Knicks do all of those things now too

Exactly the start the #Nuggets wanted to see from Cam Johnson tonight, hits the open triple off the assist from Nikola Jokic. Does a great job of relocating, too.

I want to see a good Cam Johnson game for the #Nuggets tonight. Not even a "huge" game, just a solid, efficient, fully enmeshed, impactful performance on both sides. Looking more acclimated and integrated into the flow (and hitting shots at a higher rate would be nice, too).
