With millions of teens using Instagram and being automatically placed into Instagram Teen Accounts, we wanted to see if these accounts actually create a safer online experience. Check out what we found.
we’re so used to #apple and #google dominating the app market, it’s hard to imagine the alternatives. but a competitive app ecosystem would be better for all of us, which is why we support the open apps market app and the app store freedom act. #bigtech #antitrust #appstore
TECH: A bipartisan duo are ramping up support for their App Store Freedom Act, taking aim at Apple & Google’s control over smartphone apps. Three more lawmakers joined this week as momentum builds. @BenBrodyDC has the details— punchbowl.news/article/tech/s…
Thank you to Prince Harry and Hasan Minhaj for highlighting the work of the @RTyouthpower, which supports young people like us fighting for a safer, better digital world.
Big Tech is using their billions to lobby against public interest in order to protect their business ahead of the 2026 midterms. They want allies in office so they can build their monopolies unchecked. Our partners @IssueOneReform have more.
Ask the bugs about the Open App Markets Act 🕵
"Common Sense Media research continues to recommend that teens not use ChatGPT for mental health or emotional support." We need guardrails that protect our well-being from this manipulative tech. @CommonSense
We know that tech can be addicting, but what if there was a financial incentive to get off our phones? A new phone provider is planning to pay us back for the data we DON’T use. Could this be enough to get more people to “touch grass?”
From @Time: New Mexico AG Raúl Torrez is suing Meta for its unsafe designs that expose kids to predators, putting young people at risk. As our research has shown, the AG knows that Meta’s “safety tools” don’t go nearly far enough to protect kids online.
Meta’s own researchers found that their safety tools “were incapable of detecting 98.5% of the ‘sensitive’ content that the company believes might not have been appropriate for teens." We’ve BEEN saying this, and now Meta admits it. Source: @Reuters
With just one company holding power over so much of our digital infrastructure, we risk losing access to key information or communication channels. We need enforcement to stop monopolies like this.
