I'm a patriot. I belong to the Federalist Society. I'm mildly libertarian. And it is unbearable to see what my beloved country is doing to people. If I were younger, I'd be on the barricades -- trying to help keep peace while protesting.

The day before: There must be better ways to protest authoritarianism than doing things highly likely to provoke authoritarian responses. Everyone is going to self-righteously and indignantly blame everyone else when it goes bad. And then claim that "WE wanted it to be peaceful!"

Re "No Kings" protests: I blame Congress (both sides). If they had been doing their job, these demonstrations wouldn't have to happen.

For no special reason, I'm re-posting one of my first articles - a favorite - from 21 years ago, after the SARS epidemics ended & during the U.S.'s tiny Mad Cow Disease crisis. Scientists and the Public: Barriers to Cross-Species Risk Communication psandman.com/col/species.htm

Lots of governments are stacked with vainglorious lifestyle regulating prohibitionist zealots (cheers 🇺🇸), but there can only be one with the absolute worst tobacco control policies in the world. Welcome to Australia. @Mark_Butler_MP @CancerVic @TGAgovau @Aliveadvocacy

Have you ever read this? psandman.com/col/disagreeme… @EIDGeek No kidding, I think that article is going to be useful to people for a hundred years or more if it remains online somehow. Which I hope it does. ❤️

First of 15 days semi-circumnavigating Madagascar! During clearance into Toliara, we’re being welcomed by delightful locals who want to sell us souvenirs from their canoes. So pleasant after 2 days of ACIP…

Is anyone else watching the ACIP meeting having trouble sometimes identifying the speaker?
