If Congress doesn’t act, the last nuclear arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia will expire. It would pointlessly wipe out decades of diplomacy, and could spark another arms race that makes the world less safe. This piece is worth the read. nytimes.com/2026/01/30/opi…

500,000 flocked to Toronto for 6 nights of Taylor Swift. 300,000 will come to FIFA over 4 weeks in both Toronto and Vancouver. My Taylor Swift ER shifts were routine. The threat is not these mass events. It's the regular days when Canadian ERs have no beds.

4 physicians and 5 nurses worked to resuscitate the patient. 7 more specialist physicians got involved. We woke up the whole hospital that wasn't sleeping anyway. That's our Canadian publicly funded healthcare system.

$81 million over two years for MedChecks while hospitals are struggling to stay within their budgets? This is a money grab. So is Maple Health’s $79.99 monthly membership fee to access a physician. Membership fees violate the Canada Health Act . ottawacitizen.com/news/ontario-h…

As a late-night urban ER doc I see the worst of everything. But I'll never say that it's all bad. Every shift I see compassion, expertise and productivity. Canada's publicly funded healthcare can be better, we won't stop trying, but we do much good. healthydebate.ca/2024/10/topic/…

We push the homeless out of the parks. We don't have enough shelter beds. So where do they go when they have no choice? The grates outside the hospital. This is not an accident. It's an Ontario policy choice.

Ontario’s Conservatives have billions sitting in contingency funds, $500M for a parking lot, and billions for a tunnel - but refuse to fund hospitals properly. Today, Ontario Liberals called for an immediate $1B investment in hospitals to keep ERs open & care accessible. #onpoli
