Convocation 2023. I love my sped team so much ❤️
I never knew I wanted a roommate until I got the most amazing one this year. She is the most amazing person, so dedicated to her job as an inclusion para, and a wonderful person to see every day. She got recognized as a GCISD Star— I WISH I had nominated her, but it wasn’t me ❤️
Putting on my mama hat today to say how proud I am of my third grader at @OCTaylorTigers for earning THREE Great Tiger Awards this semester! Two of them have to do with being respectful and kind. Thank you @OCTDagger and @OCTMorgan for encouraging kindness and seeing it in her ❤️
The Starbucks barista this morning recognized my name, asked if I was a teacher, then proceeded to thank me for teaching her son, who loved my class for two years in a row. What a wonderful way to start my day! Thank a teacher. It means so much when we are in the thick of it!
Happy National Special Ed Day! My students read The Crucible and made modern day connections. One of them said this today: “People on social media just see what they want to see and don’t think hard enough about it, just like the people of Salem saw witches.” 🤯 Impressive!!
Still thrilled to be on this team this year 🥰
These guys are excited for an @OCTaylorTigers pep rally today, and I am excited that my smallest RISE tiger is finally tall enough to fit into a school shirt! That doesn’t mean he likes to sit still for pictures 😝
I do love a good pep rally, especially when my students are performing. They are so amazing! Let’s go, Mustangs!!!
These adorable @OCTaylorTigers are off to 3rd grade and RISE/1st grade, and I am starting my 10th year in education @Grapevine_HS. So excited for this new year and new role for me!
I am so excited to be joining these wonderful ladies on the special education team at GHS this year! Not only are they fantastic educators that I can’t wait to learn from, but they’re also dear friends of mine that I’m so grateful to know ❤️ @bush_johanna @CoachLCurtis
One of my favorite times of the week is when my friends from @GhsRise deliver my positive energy tea and I’m able to help support their classroom. My own little Liam from @OCT_ALLEN will hopefully end up at GHS in the same classroom someday! We are all connected @GCISD ❤️
Ss have been reading, writing, speaking, & listening to each other in groups as we work extra hard to review in these weeks before our STAAR test! A student is so much more than a test score, but it helps to build their confidence & let them see how much they are capable of ❤️
Students “sifted” through the ‘Siren Song’ poem today after reading Book 12 of The Odyssey and made connections. I love this poem, and I REALLY love seeing the💡 turn on when students suddenly figure out the twist at the end!
My Eng I students are building background knowledge for our upcoming adventure with The Odyssey by doing a webquest alone, with a partner, or group. They need to use the given websites and sift through the info, rather than our usual knee-jerk reaction— “I’ll Google it!” 😀
Proud Mama Moment— this ELA teacher’s heart was happy when my incredibly shy 2nd grade daughter cashed in her hard earned dojo points to read a story to her brother’s RISE class @OCTaylorTigers with @OCT_ALLEN ❤️❤️❤️
I am thankful for the unexpected gift of time to grade around 140 expository essays from my 9th graders this week. I am really proud of how much their writing has improved over the year already!
Welcome back, Mustangs! Eng 1 on level students are reviewing expository essays with partners by unpacking the scoring rubric and identifying what makes a strong written response 💪 @Grapevine_HS
This week we’ve been wrapping up Romeo and Juliet playbills and essays, plus playing some fun games to review for our final exam coming up. Check out some of my amazing students’ artwork! All students were super engaged in this project @Grapevine_HS 💪
