The testes are glandular organs that are pivotal to the male reproductive system. They produce sperm.


Sperm is the male reproductive gamete. It’s haploid meaning it has 23 chromosomes.


The name derives from the Greek word "sperma" which means “seed."


Fertilization is the process that occurs when a sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell producing a zygote.


This zygote can later mature into an adult.


The ovaries are reproductive glands in which the female reproductive gametes are produced.


Generally, each woman has two ovaries. Ovaries produce ova (egg cells), secrete progesterone and estrogen, and trigger menstruation.


Ova, or egg cells, are the female reproductive gametes. At birth, a female has all of her eggs.


Once puberty starts, she releases an egg once a month until none are left.


Menstruation, commonly known as your period, is a cycle that lasts an average of 28 days. Every cycle the female body prepares for pregnancy


However, when no pregnancy occurs the uterus sheds its lining. The tissue that shed exits the body through the vagina. Hence, menstruation!
