Evidence based (or not) rantings for postdocs. Dislike obsession with excessive positive thinking. Haven't you watched `Inside Out'?

Annoyed by too many reviewing requests (not counting predatory journals). Is it a good thing to be a popular choice for reviewing? #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter @GrumpyReviewer2
Want to read an insane tenure denial story? I was denied tenure at MIT in 2018. I was the only Hispanic faculty at my department, had 13k+ citations, 2 books, & papers in Nature, Science, & PNAS. I was never given a reason & the only letter I got told me to check the website./1🧵

So I guess ignoring the request is more `reasonable` than declining without explanation. NO ONE owes you anything. 😤
Yes, just fed up with people telling people what they should do
In academic/scientific world, is it considered irresponsible to leave after <1 y of service for 'better opportunity'? Would like to get views from different cultures, as some think it is normal, but some think it is not nice and look bad on CV. @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter
So is it 15, or 45. Grumpy postdoc times three.
Serious gas lighting here. I applied to at least 45+ TT jobs (2 in Y1, 16 in Y2, 28 in Y3) jobs over the course of three job cycles. I got 4 interviews and 2 offers.

Only a co-author but asked gazillion questions by journal upon 1st submission- including whether my spouse or children are associated with entities that have vested interest on the manuscript. Seriously what is wrong with academic publishing. #AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter
So, been invited to an interview for a faculty position, but I am not too excited as it is not the city I want to live in (I prefer big metropolitan city). Has anyone been through the same? Am I just being too picky for an academic beggar? @AcademicChatter @ECRchat
All the time

To counter #impostor syndrome, sometimes I take a peek at my email spam folder- those dubious journals and conferences have more faith in me than I do in myself 🤣 #grumpypostdocs #ecrchat #AcademicChatter #phdforum #phdchat #AcademicTwitter @ECRchat @AcademicChatter
A survey based study on (unhappy) postdocs. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… It is certainly vital to have good lab/group environment, but pay and benefits are crucial too imho. #grumpypostdocs #ecrchat #AcademicChatter #phdforum #phdchat #AcademicTwitter @ECRchat @AcademicChatter

Here, my favourite science/research parody since my PhD years p/s: I have a pretty good project now. #postdoc #ecrchat #AcademicChatter #phdforum #phdchat @ECRchat @AcademicChatter @PhDForum youtube.com/watch?v=Fl4L4M…
Old article, same issues. It seems that 5 years is the unofficial maximum time length one should spend doing postdoc (if the ambition is to land a faculty job). What do you think? #postdoc #ecrchat #AcademicChatter @ECRchat @AcademicChatter nature.com/news/the-futur…
