How would you label a conference series like @derbycon that has had its final con? Status: [what word here?] None of the below? Suggest in a reply. (reposts appreciated)
New feature: charts of conference prices! It's limited in which cons have the feature for now, but check this out! infocondb.org/con/def-con/
Which do you think is the most influential hacker conference that is no longer happening?
InfoconDB has surpassed 1,000 conferences in its database! 🎉 What a huge milestone, but still so much more work to be done! InfoconDB.org
Ok real talk time. We all love the movie Hackers, that much is a given. But what do you think is the cringiest, worst written line of the movie? Is it the awkward "And I'm still a virgin!"? "Never fear. I is here"? Or something else? cc @HackersCurator
How many conferences have you attended? Big or small, show off your badge collection!
Another mystery for the smart people out there in Internetland: what were the dates of @pumpcon 2000? Internet Archive's got nothing. cc: @deviantollam @SolientArt anybody else?
My @defcon protip: write down a list or save a file with all the cool project ideas that pop into your head while inspired at the con. Otherwise, after you go home and the high wears off, you'll forget most of them until next year #defcon31
Answer for @lintile: This is the number of official DEF CON conferences (including virtual) that have taken place including the one this weekend. #dfiu
Fun fact! InfoconDB's data has 4563 people who have presented at DEF CON talks! The individuals with the most DEF CON credits include @thedarktangent of course, @joegrand (22), @neuralcowboy (22), @dakami (21) RIP, and @kurtopsahl (20). infocondb.org/con/def-con/ #defcon
Excited for DEF CON 31 in a few weeks?! Me too! InfoconDB has the data on official presentations and the presenters' previous talks so you can plan your con and binge on other great content! infocondb.org/con/def-con/de… #defcon
Fun fact: If you don't count Jeff Moss aka The Dark Tangent (creator of DEF CON and Black Hat, @thedarktangent) due to his many credits for e.g. opening ceremonies, Kurt Opsahl (@kurtopsahl) of the EFF has the most presentation credits and has since InfoconDB first launched
New hacker history mystery for yinz: what were the dates of Phreaknic 1 in 1997? Some leads: archive.phreaknic.info/pn345/pix97/in… web.archive.org/web/1998120707… cc: @PhreakNIC anybody there have records that go back this far?
