Jared - Drywall Guy
@Jaredkotter
Replaced my teacher salary by selling drywall. Did $1.5MM in first 9 months after having never worked in construction or sales. Building more stuff.

I’m Jared 👋 - father of 2 - husband - former collegiate lacrosse - former middle school teacher - wanted to own my schedule & retire my wife so I started selling drywall. Generated over $1.5MM of rev in first 9 months - #buildinginpublic a construction cleaning business
Since everyone is dying to know here’s my go to Chipotle order (considering I eat here 3x+ / week) - Bowl - no rice - double black beans - Chicken - double chicken (have to tell them you want double AFTER they’ve already given you the first serving - Fajita veggies - mild…
Here’s something new: homeowner buzzing the house in a helicopter as I measure … at least I think it’s the homeowner… Also, just imagine the sunsets through those finished windows
Here’s my A-Z playbook for high-end project management that keeps luxury clients calling us for every project: BIDDING STAGE: - meet Contrcator in person to measure the house and see every detail first hand - do a free straight edge framing check. whether they use us or not,…
Yes. This is the way. Want jobs as a new construction subcontractor? 1. Download permit data for ongoing projects. 2. Pick up the phone call. 3. Say that exact line 👇 4. Offer your services + some free value to them whether they use you or not.
Reminder: If they pick up the phone They aren’t THAT busy “I’ll keep this brief” “Quick minute” Etc Then give it all you got
Another best practice that lands me a TON of reoccurring work: OVER COMMUNICATING. If it’s relevant, especially to timelines, it’s not annoying, it’s impressive.
Here’s one thing I learned from being at Disney Land last week with the family: Mormons love that place. No joke, I saw 2x the number of BYU paraphernalia than any other college. Huge weekend for the Y all the way around. Go Cougs. 🤙
Drywall is definitely a base f150 with a tool box and no wrap 😂
Out of all the different types of contractors in Utah.. Roofers lead the league in ridiculously nice trucks. Was just sitting behind a $120k+ fully wrapped F350 for a company I’ve never even seen before.
House 3/3 ❌ I didn’t get this one measured, but it’s a huge win because I met the project manager on site (my secret sauce) and walked with him. Also, this house might literally be the largest house I’ve ever seen. I didn’t grasp how big it was before I got inside.
2/3 measured today ✅ It’s a sprint to measure this many houses in one day while also taking care of ongoing projects. But it must be done

SPEED TO LEAD MATTERS IN NEW CONSTRUCTION TOO. I always try and get my bids out 48-72 hours at MOST from when I talk to the contractor. Taking the fam to Disneyland tomorrow which means I have to get out 3 estimates from houses I called on from permits last week. 1/3 ✅ 👇
My soul feels at home when I walk on site and there’s Mexican music blasting on the Dewalt speaker Fun fact about me: I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guadalajara Mexico for 2 years. I sincerely love Mexican people, music, food.

The magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding!
The biggest thing holding me back: JUST DOING THE THING to be honest, even though I KNOW cold calling works, sometimes I get lazy, or afraid to just pick up the phone and call. Kicking myself because there’s a house I should have called in a month ago and never did. Finally…
I need a chicken
EVERY morning I cook 9 eggs. - I get 5 - my wife gets 2 - 3 year old gets 2 It’s bulking season for me and the 3 year old

I hate fake bragging on social media- it’s why I’ve avoided posting for so long. So my commitment to anyone who cares is to not lie and only post only what is true. So, to prove my non-existent haters wrong - Here’s all 27 drywall jobs that got me to $1.5MM rev in 9 months 🧵👇
