"Just thought I’d share my experiences from a player’s point of view. After spending a good few years playing in the Sligo-Leitrim league, I’ve seen what’s going on first-hand. I’m not trying to give out for the sake of it. @DslSligo @oceanfmsport @sligo
Overall Competitiveness: Compared to other counties, the Sligo-Leitrim league is falling behind. This has become evident in recent performances at higher-level competitions, where the gap in standards is increasingly clear.
Underage Structure: Youth teams are playing too few games, with seasons often spread over six to seven months. A more consistent and competitive schedule is needed to properly develop young players.
The league’s suspension rule of four yellow cards, rather than the standard five, places an extra burden on clubs and players. Additionally, notifying players of suspensions only hours before kick-off causes unnecessary confusion. Clearer, earlier communication is needed
Officiating Standards: The standard of refereeing needs considerable improvement. Many officials are reaching an age where, according to research, cognitive sharpness and memory can decline, leading to inconsistencies in decision-making. A refresh in officiating personnel.
Coaching and Management: The league urgently requires the appointment of a qualified OSCARs trainer and a professional coaching staff — ideally individuals who have no involvement with the league committee. Additionally, a dedicated manager with a strong eye for talent is needed.
As my time playing in Sligo comes to a close, I feel it’s important to highlight a few key areas the league should reflect on and address."

Great Idea!! But we’re will the €€ be when a certain county has 2-3 teams in the LOI system. Galway could have Salt-hill and Mervue in this system. Teams could struggle financially!
