We've spent a century shrinking sidewalks, paving over streetcar tracks, and literally chasing cyclists off the roads to make driving more convenient. I don't want to Ban Cars, I want to unFuck walking, unFuck the bus, unFuck biking for transportation. Step 1 is restrict cars.

Today Gov. Pillen, Sen. Ricketts, numerous other political leaders gathered in an auditorium to unite in their hatred of trans people. This week, two healthcare centers closed in rural NE, our AG shut down the office providing corrections oversight, and the NU President bailed.

Even though NE’s revenue is driven by our agricultural economy, we’ve never been able to pass meaningful climate change legislation or analyze what needs to be done to keep our ag economy sustainable. GOP politicians are running to the feds to fix what they refuse to acknowledge

So we’re clear: The Supreme Court ended affirmative action yesterday by saying you CAN’T discriminate by helping a minority group, then turned around today and said you CAN discriminate by hurting them.

For those who don't follow the Nebraska legislature, you're really missing out. It's just a constant stream of people correcting the Chair, people calling other people out for getting the rules wrong, and people reminding other people that they don't know what they're doing.

A young girl didn’t want to slaughter the goat she raised for 4H. The state senator who bought the goat at auction agreed to let it live out its days eating weeds. But sheriff’s deputies drove 500 miles to kill the goat and teach a 9-year-old a lesson. latimes.com/california/sto…

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUIT JACKET, SPORT COAT, AND BLAZER? A friend of mine recently emailed me to ask whether he accidentally bought a suit jacket by mistake, when he wanted a sport coat. I see this sort of thing happen often, so let's break down the differences 🧵

i’m worried you’ve already made like an entire thread on this and i just forgot, but i was wondering if you could explain the difference between a sport coat and like suit jacket (mens) and how to tell the difference between them?

In 2003, Saturn released a commercial that ironically highlighted the inefficiency of cars and how much space they occupy.

Talking to art director friend at a major studio. He reviews job applicants, mentions that his duties now entail identifying and eliminating AI art portfolios. Vangelis plays quietly as I take a vape pull. "Have you ever rejected a human artist by mistake?"

Let’s talk about naming things. This is a pattern designed by the UK passport office to appear part-way through the application flow. It uses a contrasting visual style to alert users to some important information about applying. What would you call this? 🧵 1/6

Today there are some states that seek to venerate the legacy of my slaveholding collateral ancestor, Confederate General Robert E Lee. To continue to do such is a harbinger of white supremacy, and hate. Lee was a failed military tactician, traitor, and insurrectionist. 1/4

This response to my tweet is useful, as it highlights the extremist position on education of the far right in Nebraska. The central idea is that "parents and children have a right to a learning environment free of things they don't want to know about." This is not an education.

All this stuff about getting rid of gas stoves is not coming out of nowhere. It's not meddling lefties worried about global warming. There's a rapidly accumulating body of science showing direct health harms, especially to the most vulnerable. It's a seat-belts-in-cars thing.

Researchers just found that gas stoves are responsible for 12.7% of childhood asthma cases. Recently I read dozens of studies about gas stoves and indoor air quality. I also installed monitors in our home and ran my own tests. Here's what I learned.
