Dr Andries Heyns @rangerandries has submitted a proposal to the Department of State @StatePRM to study how Collective Spatial Cognition can improve humanitarian aid efforts in refugee crises. Dr Heyns worked as a GIS specialist for @MSF in #Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.
Working with our talented partners at @LabLocSci, @alabama_cs, & @BamaGeography, we just sent in our proposal to the @Google AI Impact Challenge. The project would integrate social media data, AI, GIS and drones. More to come when funding is secured.
Dr. Andries Heyns is a researcher at our lab and a former volunteer wildland firefighter. The optimization of wildfire detection is one of his projects with us.
