Lamar State College Orange says streets in front of Green Street are flooded. Damage sustained from Laura involves 20+ trees uprooted and blown over, detached garage doors, and broken windows, but no structural damage. The emergency response team is on campus to assess damage.

10 A.M. UPDATE | Laura is now expected to become a Category 4 hurricane just off the Gulf Coast but may weaken back to a Category 3 just before landfall.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), with the assistance of TxDOT, will close the Rainbow and Veterans Bridges when sustained wind speeds reach 44mph. Access points to both bridges will be closed due to safety concerns for motorists and first responders.
Evaculanes are set up and available for use in areas throughout Hardin, Orange, Newton and Tyler Counties. If you see this symbol located along the shoulder, it indicates an evaculane which can be used as a regular lane of traffic.

From Judge McDaniel: “I am submitting my Voluntary Evacuation Notice to the citizens of Hardin County. The Mayors and I will be meeting throughout the day to discuss any potential for a mandatory evacuations.... Any decision on that should be made public by 2:30PM.”
