NAVIGATION NOTICE: conta.cc/2AEq7YW | The S-127 navigation lock at Buckhead Ridge is scheduled to be closed to boat traffic entering and leaving Lake Okeechobee from Aug. 13 to Aug. 22.
These serene wetland scenes actually show the Nicodemus Slough water storage area. This project is a cooperative agreement with a private landowner to store excess water from Lake Okeechobee and help reduce the need for releases to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries.
