First it was stealth taxes on households, and now it’s a stealth tax on our high streets. The government is hammering businesses, we need an urgent VAT cut for hospitality services now.

David Lammy was right in 2020 when he called the jury system fundamental to our constitution. Now the government wants to remove juries from all but the most serious cases. It is dangerous and wrong and the Prime Minister must reverse it.

⚠️ WOW. High streets are being hit with a business rates bombshell. Chancellor has serious questions to answer: ❓How many businesses will pay rates for the first time? ❓How many will see bills go up? ❓Why isn’t she using the powers she gave herself to help high streets?

Instead of hammering the country with taxes, the chancellor should be tackling the cost of living and helping businesses grow by cutting red tape. The biggest path to growth is repairing our relationship with Europe. @CalumMillerLD

Young people are feeling hopeless because escaping debt and achieving basic goals like owning a home seem like impossible dreams. Labour have shot their ambition and the ambition of working people with their stealth tax rises in this budget.

This was a hopeless budget.

People need hope.

“What people actually need is a belief that any sacrifices they are making now are going to be for a purpose” Liberal Democrat Calum Miller says the Budget was “hopeless” and should have helped business and the cost of living instead of “hammering” the UK with taxes #bbcqt

The Government has deliberately turned its back on the single most effective step it could take to kick-start growth and fill the £90 billion Brexit-shaped hole in the public finances. We need a new Customs Union with the EU to get our economy growing.

Rachel Reeves is the continuity Conservative chancellor.

The Chancellor's chosen to copy the Conservatives with a stealth tax. You can't tax your way to growth.

This Government has chosen to reject the single biggest thing it could do to turbocharge economic growth and repair the £90 billion Brexit black hole. For millions of people struggling with higher bills this was a botched budget.

Rachel Reeves used to stand against stealth taxes on working people. What happened?

Today’s budget was botched. We needed a real growth budget, and this wasn’t it.
