1. Today the Federal Circuit rejected Teva's bid to list device patents for inhalers in the Orange Book. Practically this means that drug makers can't list patents for things like inhaler caps to block generic rivals from the market & keep prices high. A big win for Americans.
FTC Chair Lina Khan shows Lesley Stahl an asthma inhaler that costs dollars in Europe but hundreds in the U.S. She says drugmakers register patents on inhaler parts like the cap-strap to keep low-cost generics off the market. cbsn.ws/3zuONT2

Lina Khan: “Candidly at this moment when we are seeing unprecedented levels of corruption from the Republican Party and total pay to play, the idea that our response to that should be, ‘okay, maybe we should be a little bit more corrupt too’ is frankly mind boggling to me.”…

Encouraging to see @RepHageman reach across the aisle to defend America’s ranchers in spite of Trump and @SecScottBessent’s Argentina First attack on them. Country of Origin Labeling legislation is long overdue and Congress should finally pass a law to mandate it. The last…
We are proud to stand up for our independent ranchers. We produce the best beef in the world, our consumers should have confidence that they are buying American beef!

Both disturbing and bizarre. Why is an administration that says it supports open-weight models and real competition in AI deleting government materials that support its position?

A good week for state governments stepping up to protect their citizens from corporate abuse. On Monday @CAgovernor signed a bill banning stay-or-pay contracts that can trap workers in abusive jobs. And yesterday @GovKathyHochul signed a bill banning the use of price-fixing…
I have a new essay in the New Republic. I used to see things as left versus right. Now I worry about the money at the top. And while it may sound strange, I think this is a hopeful way of looking at the world that opens the door to coalitions that seemed impossible before
