Flight of the Navigator (1986) captures that perfect mix of wonder and mystery that defined 80s sci-fi. A kid, a spaceship, and a sense of adventure that feels pure and timeless. Its practical effects still hold up beautifully today.

What's the most underrated "sci-fi" movie of all time?

The title card sequence in F1 (2025) hits differently. The roar of engines syncing with Hans Zimmer’s score is pure cinematic adrenaline.

What's a moment in a movie that made you think: "This score is perfect."

QUANTUM OF SOLACE premiered 17 years ago today. A heartbroken, enraged, vengeful 007. This film gets better & better with each viewing. “I’m motivated by my duty.” “No. I think you’re so blinded by inconsolable rage that you don’t care who you hurt.” #JamesBond ⚪️⚪️⚪️🔴

In Spectre (2015) opening scene, the spectacular parade didn’t exist before the movie. It was created for the film in collaboration with Mexico City. After film’s release, the city made it a tradition, now held every year.

Really hope this lad enjoys greater success. With certified bangers like this, he'll be flying! instagram.com/reel/DP9o7qZEm… #AlexSampson #ThereSheGoes

The Martian (2015) doesn’t get talked about enough. Easily one of the most rewatchable and entertaining sci-fi films in recent years.

What’s your “I don’t know what to watch, so I’ll just watch this again” movie?

A really funny scene from my favourite Daniel Craig Bond film. Also the Aston Martin DB10 was something.

“The Craig Era was too serious. Bring back the fun!” The Craig Era:

Top Gun: Maverick isn’t just a great sequel, it’s better than the original in every way. A rare upgrade that actually sticks the landing.

One of my favourites growing up. Such an iconic film, very stylish with a cool 30's period art deco setting.

The Rocketeer (1991) is an underrated ’90s gem. Stylish, fun, and full of charm, it’s a love letter to classic adventure serials that rarely gets its due.

The SR-71 Blackbird flew 85,000 feet up at over Mach 3, where the air outside was –60°F but its titanium skin burned at 600°F from speed alone. At that height, the sky went black and the Earth curved below. A feat in American techno-futurism.

I share this every year in celebration of #JamesBondDay 🍸 ⚪️⚪️🔴 My 007, Timothy Dalton, sums up (with spine-tingling accuracy) the core of this phenomenal franchise. Now more than ever, we must champion Ian Fleming and Albert R Broccoli, and their bold desire to entertain.

Let’s make a deal at a grand bargain between the two sides that hate each other so much. The Left will quash all their loony woke shit, and the Right will stop the slide into autocracy.
