First meet in the books. Lost a close one to a solid Independence team. Asher Castenson led the way with a 39. First varsity action for Grady Oleson and Mason Tumilty.
Final scores are in. Marion placed third at Sectionals this afternoon with a team score of 324, coming in one stroke behind CPU and 11 behind Sectional Champion Waverly-Shell Rock. Lawson Berndt placed 4th with a 78. Tough finish, but a great season nonetheless.
Marion finished first at the South Tama meet with a score of 311, coming in one stroke lower than Waterloo Columbus. Nathan Whalen placed second with a 71. Lawson Berndt (76) took 6th and Josh Noll (78) finished 9th.
The Marion Wolves finished a close second to Williamsburg tonight, and ahead of Benton, at Stone Creek. Marion shot 150 to Williamsburg’s 147.
Marion took second place at the Monticello Invitational coming in with a season low 318. Dyersville Beckman won with a course record 297.
Tough day on the links today. Marion finished third with a 166, behind Solon with a 151 and Center Point-Urbana with a 159.
Personal 9 hole lows tonight for Noll, Castenson and Andresen. And the lowest team score (14 over par) since 2019.
Lawson Berndt (40), Calvin Andresen (40) and Carsen Cechota (42) rounded the scoring.
Josh Noll led the Wolves with a 36 and took medalist honors. Nathan Whalen and Asher Castenson tied with a 39 and we’re runner up medalists.
Great night for the Marion Boys Golf team. The wolves won the triangular against Mt Vernon and Clear Creek-Amana with a score of 154 vs 162 for CCA.
Lawson Berndt took 4th place with a 76 and Nathan Whalen finished 9th with a 79.
The improvement over last year continues, as the 323 cuts 13 strokes off of last year’s score at the Benton Community Invitational.
Lawson, Asher and Carsen all had personal low 18 hole rounds.
Josh Noll, Calvin Andresen and Asher Castenson all finished with an 84. Carsen Cechota rounded out the scores with a 90.
Results from tonight’s dual with Benton Community: Marion wins, 160 to 189. Lawson Berndt was the medalist with a 37. Nathan Whalen was runner up Medalist with a 38. Josh Noll shot 42, and Calvin Andresen and Asher Castenson tied with a 43.
Lawson Berndt shot 39 to lead the Wolves. Josh Noll (42), Nathan Whalen (44) and Asher Castenson (44) rounded out the scoring.
Asher Castenson shot 89 and Carson Cechota came in with a 92.
One in the books, and the team got the season off to a great start. First place with a team score of 340 to edge out Don Bosco by one stroke.
