Another beautiful evening under the stars. This time with the Stargate 500P. So nice to have it working again. #astrosketch #skywatcher

I got out with the new scope again. It worked so well! Every object was smack-bang in the centre of the eyepiece! - I quickly sketched a few globular clusters and spent quite a while comparing M27 with M76 at different magnifications. #astrosketch

After two nights of struggling with the alignment, I finally got the new 12" Dobsonian to find what I was looking for. I had a quick look at Alberio, the Ring Nebula, the Double Cluster and the Dumbbell Nebula. So pleased I have a working scope again!

After years of owning a 2nd-hand Goto scope which never worked properly, I finally have a new one! (which should hopefully point where I want it to!). Can't wait to get back into astronomy again. (With a scope that works!).

Two beautiful nights of observing at the Observatory Science Centre Astronomy Festival. @Observatory_Sci

Saw Saturn for the first time this year. The rings appeared as a straight line in my scope as they're so edge on. I also managed to see P.N. NGC 6781 in Aquila; suggested by @AstronomyNow magazine as a good imaging target. It's very faint visually, but nice with a UHC filter.

It was really enjoyable to go back to some nice, easy, bright Messier Objects, nicely placed in the night sky from my garden at the moment. I couldn't seem to make out the central star in the Ring Nebular last night, but M71 seemed particularly beautiful.

It was lovely to get out with the scope again last night. (The nights are finally getting a little darker now it feels!). It's been so long though I felt very rusty last night! #astrosketch @DeepskyLog

A few easy double stars from last night and a couple of weeks ago. 1st two from the goto handset, the middle two are from the Sissy Haas book for double stars & the last 2 are from the RASC Observing list which I'm now going to try and complete.

Not the best sketch in the world. Looks more like a badly shaped dog than a sun spot. But lovely to see!

Some basic sketches from Saturday night. Another Messier object ticked off the list, and NGC 5544 and 5545 (Arp 199) was good to see.

Just waiting for it to get dark. The first proper night out stargazing this year! 🔭

I actually got out with the scope tonight! The first time this year!! It soon clouded over, but it was great to finally get out!

I've just opened the Solar Can that's been facing South in my back garden for the past year. It seems to have worked pretty well again tracking the path of the sun across the sky. (And is that the moon's path possibly, fainter in the background?).

There's not many places in the south east where you can feel as though you're miles from anyone, so I really love walking from Reculver to St Nicholas at Wade. #greyhounds #walking #kent
