It’s a good Friday when you get to visit a math class for 20 minutes and hear all 21 students speak in their teams during a group quiz.

Wonderful keynote yesterday at #NZAMT18 from @MrJohnRowe. He made talking about math cool using 2 points and @Desmos to make his point. And I now know that @MrJohnRowe is far more productive on transpacific flights than I am.
Great #NZAMT18 workshop yesterday on discussion in math class: using Math Talk Moves, grounding in Hufferd-Ackles, Fuson and @Miriamsherin work on Math Talk Learning Communities, and sharing a familiar Oakland Unified School District resource on Number Talks!

This has me thinking of another class/practice comparison- who is doing the thing? Plan for class structures to engage all students in doing math (not sitting waiting watching). Plan practice structures to engage all players in doing the sport (not standing waiting watching).
