This picture shows that the sum of the five consecutive integers 3+4+5+6+7 is half of the sum of the next five consecutive integers 8+9+10+11+12. Can you find more such sums of consecutive integers using the idea of this picture?
Plus, exploring it with Cuisenaire rods is a thing too.
Students were really engaged in this today, and I think it's helped to become aware of things about the multiplication square that just looking doesn't necessarily arrive at. We'll look closely at one or two of them next week. Maybe this one first:
