I keep hearing the phrase ‘children have changed.’ I don’t think children & what children need has actually changed. What has changed are the societal parameters that children operate within & that has impacted children.

It is deeply worrying that any member of staff would be observed teaching for that length of time, more so an ECT. I thought we had made progress with lesson observations & moved away from this model on staff? I wonder how many teachers can robustly cope with this?

This term ‘anxiety’ has been overused. People need to know that a level of anxiety is normal. Sometimes we have to push through it and we become stronger for it. Yes there are those who experience debilitating anxiety and that is something different.

Is abysmal parenting pushing schools to breaking point? I'm not sure I'd use the word "abysmal", but a lot of the uptick in problems we are having on a national level do seem to be down to parents doing mad stuff

Teachers/schools should not condone poor behaviour, avoid lesson removal & necessary sanctions when 7/30 minutes of lesson time is lost to disruptive behaviour. How is this fair on the pupils who are trying to learn & the teacher who is trying to teach…

I admire a lot of what they have been able to achieve and feel a lot of the criticism they get is lazy and misplaced. Could it be done on a cold Tuesday in Portsmouth?

I think a huge part of that happiness is how relaxed those kids are. There is no opportunity for peer to peer unkindness. 100% class participation means the class acts as a homogenous unit and no one feels an idiot.
