My statement on Donald Trump’s unilateral military action in Iran.
AOC in a statement tonight says Trump should be impeached for bombing Iran without congressional approval. Do you stand with her ?
This is not about the merits of Iran’s nuclear program. No president has the authority to bomb another country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US without the approval of Congress. This is an unambiguous impeachable offense.
Trump just put a huge target on the U.S. Our troops and our military bases are now at risk. We are now all at risk of attacks here at home. This unconstitutional escalation has put us in great danger.
Much as I would not dare to predict the consequences of this war, I do think we can summarize it thusly so far: A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.

I can’t help but think all of this could have been avoided if Merrick Garland had held Trump accountable for the crimes he committed. If not for Garland’s inexcusable delay, Trump would currently be in prison instead of in the Oval. We were let down by weak men like Garland.
Following the President’s decision to bomb nuclear facilities in Iran, I’ve directed our public safety teams to be on heightened alert for potential threats to Minnesota. While there’s no known threats at this time, we’ll continue to monitor the situation and respond accordingly.
That one person can drag us into a war — without consulting or even notifying Congress, our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary— is absolutely bonkers. Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they? Hello?
