There are always going to be curve balls thrown at you. Always, always, always keeps your eyes on the ball. Very few events in life is truly predictable.

People should be less concern about what new programming language they are going to learn in the New Year, and instead focus on how they are going to engineer a better application.

The hackathon that I annually go to has not been scheduled. I'm sad.

I need to say this out loud!!! You can not just learn a programming language, write a few programs, call yourself a programmer, and demand a crazy salary. People, please take the time and learn your craft!!! The money will come when you deserve it.

When you take a small programming assignment that should only take a couple hours to complete, and you instead spend three days coaching your junior developer in proper way to write it.

I never really realized how much of a leader my time in the service made me, until I started reading "The courage to take command", by Colonel Jill Morgenthaler.

I don't think that OOP or Functional programming is appropriate in every situation. A 20-line service that's just modifying a string doesn't need either. Same with microservices. They are often "overkill." Architecture is all about making intelligent choices for a given context.

Are more into OOP or Functional programming?? And you don't think that microservices is over kill for small to medium APPs ??

The SM and PO are not management roles. (Repeat until it sinks in.)

I think that if I wasn't a programmer, I would probably be a chef. However, many cakes that look like this and I would likely go hungry. At least the strawberry compote I made to go with it was tasty...

Hardest part of being a lead developer... Dealing with the three monkeys (heard, see, say no evil).

Feel like I'm driving a car at 100mph with no straightaways and no brakes. When will the madness end?

Sometimes, when I listen to others talk, I feel like all I ever did with my life was to live to work.
