OSHEAN's Rapid Response to a Critical Vulnerability
A recent article published by SC Media highlights an alarming finding: approximately 330,000 Fortinet devices remain unpatched despite the disclosure of a critical vulnerability in the platform....
If you only read one piece on this funding, this should be it. The expansion of broadband services in RI (and the entire U.S.) over the next few years is going to be significant, but there's a lot to know.
Raimondo returns to RI to deliver $100 million worth of internet funding. What it means. newportri.com/story/news/loc…
Here in RI we're lucky - access to high-quality broadband is not nearly the issue it is in larger states. But *affordable* access? That's an issue - one we hope to help remedy with the federal broadband funds @SecRaimondo talked about last week.
"The internet isn’t a luxury anymore. It’s a necessity," Raimondo said. "If you don’t have access to internet at a price you can afford, you’re going to get left behind." trib.al/hozbd0N
Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Tanner joined U.S. Commerce @SecRaimondo, Governor Dan McKee, Senators Reed & Whitehouse, and others in Newport today to discuss the $109M in BEAD funding to help close the digital divide in RI. #InternetForAll
To expand opportunity, all RIers must be plugged in to high-speed, affordable broadband. Celebrating $108.7M in federal Broadband Equity, Access & Deployment funding to implement a coordinated strategy in RI to close the digital divide & help folks feel more connected.
Thank you Senator, and thanks to both you and @SenJackReed for making sure that small state minimum was in the bill! We promise to be responsible with it, just like we've been with Newport Housing's free wifi project.
Great to be at Donovan Manor with @SecRaimondo @SenJackReed to announce $108.7M in funding to ensure that everyone in RI has access to affordable, reliable high-speed internet.
More than 8 million Americans still lack access to high-speed internet – making it challenging to complete schoolwork, connect to telehealth, and run small businesses. It’s unacceptable. That’s why @POTUS set a goal to close the digital divide and connect every American.
Biden’s Build Back Better bill includes plans to spend $65B to bring broadband to all Americans. Commerce Sec. Raimondo explained on Tuesday that $100 million will be allocated to each state, with the rest focused on “the underserved and the unserved.” cbsn.ws/3D1Da2v

Reed, Whitehouse, McKee, Raimondo & state leaders celebrate $108.7 million in Federal Broadband funding to connect more RIers to affordable high-speed internet #newportri #whatsupnewp dlvr.it/SrWhBD
These are exciting times for RI Broadband, but there's still a lot of work, planning, and negotiation to be done to spend the funds wisely. We look forward to helping design the next generation of high-speed internet for RI's non-profit community!
