Well, I've been reading more prolifically lately than I have for most of the year, but I haven't liked any of the books I am reading, so I'm not sure this is a win. 😅

People are mad about this when Indie Next is just independent bookstores hyping books, not bookstores hyping indie books. Which seems clear if you have ever seen an Indie Next pick before this tweet.

“Indie Next” has chosen Brandon Sanderson’s Tailored Realities as its next read. Do you consider this an indie book?

I will never get over the book I read ~10 years ago where everyone kept saying the main character was brilliant, and her idea of a good disguise was literally just wearing colored contacts. "No one will recognize me with a different eye color!"

Sometimes I think readers take characterization too much at face value. Is a character ACTUALLY smart/clever/badass/a good person, or do the other characters and the narrative voice just keep saying they are, and their actions never back the characterization up?

I'm definitely not over 42, but I will keep my double spaces anyway.

Dear friends older than 42: You don't have to put 2 spaces after the period anymore. That was for the typewriter era. You're free

When am I going to see discourse about these book covers?

These takes always confuse me because many churches will collect money/food/clothes, etc. but then donate the stuff to a local organization that distributes it. They will probably refer you to a food bank because the church itself doesn't store food and other stuff to give out.

There's a lady on tiktok calling churches saying she needs help buying formula for her baby just to see if they will actually help their communities. She's called 20+ places and so far only a mosque and a tiny little church in Appalachia have offered to help.

Starting book three of a series when I don't remember books one and two. Wish me luck.
