The real predators are those who are trying to ban or restrict access to books that will allow children to identify and teach them to be able to vocalize their abuse.
And the doctor said that it took way too long for people to realize what the child was saying. And said that this is why we should let children read books that allow them to be able to properly vocalize their abuse. And folks in the comments called the doctor a predator for it😞
I will never forget how a doctor on here talked about a young victim who was taught to call their private parts "their cookies" and to never let people touch their cookies. The victim was telling parents and teachers that "their uncle was touching their cookies."
Exactly, there's some content that is not suitable for underage people. That's not the same as outright banning it and as we all know, Censorship will ALWAYS target works created by marginalized voices.
Censorship is never the answer. There’s a difference between identifying and separating media based on age and content….then there’s chucking it in the bin.
Censorship never helps the abused, only the abuser. Those that want to control you, that want to hurt you never want you to know thats what they're doing. Children are always going to be among the most vulnerable to the dangers of Censorship.
Everytime I think about censorship towards kids and what it's done, I think of that little girl who found out she was being sexually abused by her father through a book that was going to be banned or pulled off shelves. I think more people should think about that.
i legit only realized last night how disgustingly invasive and sexual a lot of comments and experiances i had with my family were. people need these stories far more than most want to acknowledge
I remember seeing a a guy posting that he didnt realize his mom was sexually abusing him until he watched a tv show and saw incestuous abuse in the show, and that was how he found iut and started to work on saving himself. I think of him a lot, I hope hes doing well
That little girl basically haunts me, its such a horrible story and it isn't the only one that comes to mind. I wish I had a book like that when I was younger.
