Two spaces or one space? As it applies to court reporter transcripts... Most transcripts are produced in a monospaced font (e.g., Courier, Consolas) so you use TWO spaces between sentences. If you happen to use a variable-width font, then only one space is needed.

PROOFREADING The commas 👉 Before "too" & "also" at the end of a sentence 👉 Around "too" & "also" in the middle of a sentence went away about 40 years ago. Old habits die hard! 😄

My court reporters lately: "When in doubt, add a comma. When not in doubt, add a comma anyway."

⚠️ Warning ⚠️ Every "go hire a proofreader" grammar cop eventually learns this the hard way: Muphry's Law is real.

Proofreaders: Stop playing coy. Be upfront about 🔸 What you do 🔸 Who you do it for 🔸 How you do it 🔸 Why you do it 🔸 How it will benefit them 🔸 How much it costs Vagueness is costing you clients.

Proofreading can be daunting. Switching to a different font can help you spot errors more easily.

Proofread. Your brain knows what it said. Your fingers had other ideas.

Some days I put the "pro" in proofreading. And some days I put the "oof" in it.
