I'm 34. Not only am I unlikely to be able to access the state pension before the age of 70, in all likelihood the legally required private pensions through my employment will likely means test me out of the state pension any way through taxation. So, I don't care.

You're going to be a pensioner yourself one day. Let's see if you think the same then.

Almost all WASPI women are in receipt of state pension, some have been for years now. A 'fair and just' scheme of compensation would be £0 per WASPI - why should younger people compensate older women for not checking their own state pension age. It's ludicrous. Read the room.

The right thing to do is to now to work with these women and determine a fair and just scheme of compensation. (2/2)

Expecting women to retire at the same age as men, and treating them as cogent responsible individuals enough to plan their own retirement properly is the opposite of misogyny actually

After the comments I have received and read on here today regarding #50sWomen, I have to say I am sorry misogyny is still alive and kicking.

Rachel, you live in a £1.6 million house with six bedrooms and a swimming pool. I’m sure you could accommodate a fair few “refugees” in your house. Refugees welcome after all, right?

Let me make it clear: refugees are welcome here. Using an army camp isn't the way to do it, and the dysfunctional Home Office must do better than their total lack of communication with local communities.

New argument for WASPI women: Print money to pay us

We 'literally' can print money. Those other things are ongoing. As is our national linking to gas prices to underpin our energy market. Billions a year. Waspi woman are asking for around 10k each even if its that high. WHY TURN ON EACH OTHER ? Check Richard Murphy economist on YT

A British company (yes, the same one that helped save Europe from fascism) building the energy technology of the future while providing jobs to communities in Wales? We love to see it 👏

Fuck off Sandra, you had 20 years notice. We should not be robbing from the young to top up your pension.

"We think we deserve compensation... Many of us only had two years notice." Angela Madden, chair of the Waspi women campaign, responds to the news that the government will rethink a decision to reject compensation for women hit by changes to the state pension age. #R4Today

Ideas like this are the most revolting. It is anti-democratic, anti-individual and illiberal.

The WASPE (Women against state pension equality) campaign is back. This time they managed to watch the news. What most people don’t realise. 🧵 - The pension age was UNEQUAL. The Govt equalised it between men and women. - They had around 20 years to know about the change.

The statement on today's government statement from Chair of Women Against State Pension Inequality, Angela Madden is this: “For 10 years we have been fighting for compensation. “The Government has fought us tooth and nail every step of the way. “Today’s announcement is a major…

LOL it gets worse. Jane is a retired headteacher so most likely on a final salary pension scheme. Literally coining it in but fighting to take a 3k payout from the state to redo her kitchen.

I won't be able to retire until I'm about 90 at this rate but God forbid Jane had to retire at 65 instead of 60 after being warned about it first in *checks notes* the 1990s

This isn't an indictment on Labour but on a need for instant results that is constantly unmet because the new politics of this country has short-termism at its heart. It's why we have rampant NIMBYism, why journalists crave the next big scandal & why Reform aren't the Hail Mary

Ridiculous. Why should billions of pounds of taxpayer money be wasted because some people didn’t adequately plan for their retirement? Must young people be punished for everything in this country?

To compensate WASPI women would be insanity, in the face of the cost of living crisis facing working people. Our welfare state is too large and too generous - look at what the OBR is forecasting. We need spending cuts and fiscal restraint, not more spending and tax rises.

The Waspi women compensation payout could be upwards of £10.5bn. For context, that's the lifetime taxes of over 8200 households. So if this goes through, over 8200 households will work their whole lives just to pay for this compensation.
