🌆 Urban wetlands are essential and contribute to making cities liveable. They help with flood control, acts as a filter for domestic and industrial waste. 🏞️ They also contribute to improving water quality and are green spaces in cities which helps to promote human wellbeing.

Wetlands deliver multiple ecosystem services, including: 💧 Nutrient retention 🔍 Water purification 🌿 Carbon sequestration 🌧️ Drought and flood mitigation 🍚 Strengthening water and food security Despite these substantial benefits, wetlands are significantly undervalued.

Wetlands are nature’s water regulators, storing and filtering the freshwater that sustains all life. Nearly all of the Earth’s accessible freshwater is contained in wetlands, including about a third in rivers and lakes. #WaterIsLife #WetlandsForOurCommonFuture
