I read an unflattering national article about teachers in the editorial section of our local paper last night. Today, I was struck with the dichotomy of one man's opinion vs. the reality of the excellent work that is taking place at Pioneer. Teachers are working harder than ever.

Like many, I place an American flag on our home on the 4th of July and other holidays. I did so again this morning with renewed intentionality to support all young people in my community as they become compassionate, literate and informed leaders.
On the shortest day of what feels like the longest year, I am thankful for the Pioneer Middle School Staff. Principal Duncan, Rachel Geiter and Stephanie Kytola are preparing gifts for some Pioneer students and families. Many staff members support this outreach program.
My deepest gratitude goes to our local producers, Rebecca Cooley from the Farm to School Program and Martin Fortney, Afterschool Program Director @ Pioneer. We delivered 5 cases of food today to Pioneer families. Food Insecurity is Real in WW.
