Glinda as a lesbian makes so much sense narratively. She's following what society tells her to do (heteronormativity) and convinces herself she is happy in relationship with a man (fairy-tale plot) then falls in love with her best friend (typical) and starts to living her truth
Which is why she “loathes” Glinda in the beginning cuz she’s effortlessly loved by everyone, and Glinda “loathes” the fact that Elphaba effortlessly has magic. They both crave the thing the other person has without knowing the costs that come with said thing
i love "when i stop the wizard all oz will applaud" it's a nice transition between "soon i'll match them in renown" and "was i really seeking good or just seeking attention." like she craves that validation & celebration at her core and it partly motivates her it's so interesting
