Pew's National Opinion Reference Survey is literally the most rigorous survey of American religion we have. It's also the most recent data available. The 2025 wave was field from 2/5 to 6/18. There's been no substantive change in the religious composition of America.

In 1972, 90% of all Americans claimed a Christian affiliation. In 2022, it was 64%. 73% of Americans were white Christians. Now, it's 47% 16% were non-white Christians. Now, it's 17%. All the drop in Christianity is a decline in white Christianity.
