Listen to British music of the early 90s and you have the impression of a far more modern country than the one Britain is thirty years later.
I'm sorry to say it but we need to bring back adbusters. we need to bring back an anti-consumerist, anti-corporate, anti-advertising counterculture. we need to bring back the sentiment that cashing in is selling out, and selling out is shameful. shit is completely out of control

“Using AI to modernise the justice system.” The desperation for AI to magically resolve problems around state capacity is one of the less remarked upon bleaknesses of this intellectually exhausted party.
A huge honour to be officially sworn in as Solicitor General in the Royal Courts of Justice this morning. From tackling violence against women and girls, using AI to modernise the justice system to ensuring diversity across the legal professions, I cannot wait to get started.
I get why people are clowning on this but I actually think it's important Warner Brothers and Zaslav are taking risks on pricey projects by major filmmakers in the hope they find a big audience. it's what we said we wanted for a decade, it's worth celebrating while it lasts.
Warner Bros casually dropping 2 generational masterworks in the span of a few months
I can't believe we're in the back end of 2025. Corbyn lost the GE 6 years ago - we could and should have had a factional split 5 and a half years ago! How much time has been wasted by fucking dawdling.
UK politics is just: Boys club (blue) Boys club (anti-immigrant) Boys club (thinks it’s woke) Boys club (woke) Boys club (likes environment) Boys club (goons to nick clegg)
🚨BREAKING: Zarah Sultana appears to have been kicked from Jeremy Corbyn's newly formed "Your Party" after an unauthorised membership link was sent to supporters this morning
Reporting yourself to the ICO before you’ve even decided on a name is genuinely the most British left thing to ever happen.
I feel so bad for Zarah Sultana. It's obvious the rest of the party doesn't actually want her there, which is a shame because she's the only one who has a clue what she's doing.
Deeply hilarious to have factionalism in a political party that a) doesn't actually exist yet b) contains 6 people Generational fumble this
Texting must be one of the worst things about modernity. “You need to accept an endless stream of people blowdarting your brain with cognitive popups at any time, and if you don’t reply immediately & joyously, you will be ostracized from polite society, never to be loved”
no one is “bad at texting” they just don’t like you enough
These statements are so fascinating because they seem to live in a world where fathers/husbands aren’t bad people. In their minds, being a father/husband is so “good” that it fully negates everything else. Such is the insidious ideological power of the patriarchal nuclear family!
Jamie Lee Curtis fought back tears over Charlie Kirk's death: "A husband, father and man of faith," even if his views were "abhorrent to me." “I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he…
I keep hearing that Angela Rayner was a huge champion of the left. I'm all ears. What did she champion, what has she done? I see someone who forgot where she came from and sucked up to the establishment, Lord Levy and the Israel lobby.
Angela Rayner ‘made an honest mistake’ on stamp duty according to Wes Streeting and other ministers. But where is the sympathy for disabled claimants who make an error in the far more labyrinthine system of benefits? When miscalculating by pounds can mean criminalisation?
Bragg is the last of the Reithians i.e public service ethos, intellectually serious, committed to making complex cultural subjects available to a broad audience. This stands in contrast to what TV has become in the modern-era: wall-to-wall quiz shows, soaps and reality TV.

Incredible legacy (and I mean just IOT alone, before all the other stuff!). Strong contender for greatest living Englishman. x.com/bbcpress/statu…

Melvyn Bragg and In Our Time set the highest standard of public service broadcasting anywhere in the world. What a legacy those 1000 episodes will be.
