Another referee has just contacted us who was threatened and then car bricked by a player he sent off in a amateur football match. He could have been killed. What on earth is wrong with people. This guy has a family to go home to! @ScottishFA @ScotAmFA.

Stunningly damning. Cannot believe ex-referee’s are prepared to throw their own under the bus like this. One of the most challenging, difficult and isolated roles in football at any level. Refs need the support of their peers more than ever, then you read this. 🙈 @refsupportuk

“Beyond a joke” “Absolutely pathetic refereeing” “Ludicrous refereeing” The words to thousands by @mstewart_23. I shudder to think what he would be like at the side of a public park without the cameras and mic on him. Abhorrent punditry. @refsupportuk
Shocking that this behaviour happens at any level, let alone an u13’s level. But what chance do they have when a prominent (& purportedly educated) voice in the game like @mstewart_23 is making comments like that.
His commentary has been poor but that's teh most embarrassing of the lot. He should be apologising for it too. My kids team played a match this week and the opposition were shouting and swearing at the ref all game, U13s. This sort of commentary just adds to it.

What a frankly absurd comment by @mstewart_23 citing the 4th official causing problems by being there. Somehow justifying the terrible conduct of the sidelines by framing it as the 4th officials fault. This. This is a problem in our game. @ScottishFA @refsupportuk

Refs going on strike in Germany unless a list of demands is met. Demands are: - A Respect PR campaign by the FA - No violence against refs - Changes to penalties for verbal/physical absue - Provision of lawyer for refs after physical abuse and after a criminal/civil complaint
