I got to help previz this and animated the 2nd half of this clip myself. While the design is pretty different, Devastator was my favorite toy as a kid, and it’s some of the most fun I’ve ever had at work. And yes, it’s true that this guy basically melted one of our computers!
20 years ago today, Animation Mentor welcomed its first class of students. I feel so blessed to have been a part of it. It’s probably the best thing I will ever have been involved in. Big love to the staff, mentors, and students who continue to make the school so special!

This shot was originally going to be from behind the squadron of X-wings, following them in, but our previz artist and amazing animator Mate Medricky whipped up this idea all on his own one night. We all loved it and pitched it the next day and now it's a Star Wars shot forever!
