Bloom is only a ‘faith advisor’. He’s not an expert on human rights, the Sikhs or on Indian history nor is he an expert on terrorism or counterterrorism, yet he makes outrageous claims and counter claims against Sikh community engagement with politicians & political institutions.

I find it strange that #BloomReview makes no reference or inclusion of the ‘Sikh Radicalisation in Britain’ report which was funded by @crest_research @ukhomeoffice and @ESRC. The findings of this 2017 report present a very different narrative to what Bloom has presented.
From the outset Bloom’s broad division into ‘true believers’ and ‘non-believers’ (both good) and then ‘make believers’ (bad) is philosophically flawed. The dangerous framing offers the opportunity to dismiss legitimate challenge/criticism as ‘make believers’ & therefore a problem

What's most annoying is that we are forced to pretend these 'reviews' and 'reports' are written/made in good faith. Most Sikh orgs, gurdwaras, student societies would sincerely welcome dialogue/input into these 'independent' reviews. But they seldom get to be consulted 1/
