Lightsaber. Far from the most complicated model but I enjoyed making it.
Welp, I felt like doing another render just because I had a few practice models I made lying around and practicing with shaders/materials can never be a bad thing. Probably my last Cycles render for a while since I need to learn other things now.
My initial foray into animation. This took longer to render than I'd like but I also wanted to see what a somewhat thorough Blender/Cycles animation would look like.
First Cycles render (in Blender). Interesting. I'm sure I'll look back at this and laugh in a week or so.
Blender render of my low poly chess set for the @udemy course "Learn 3D Modelling - The Complete Blender Creator Course." Though this course moves a little slowly (I basically modeled everything my way except the board before we even got to modeling), I'm learning so much.
As much as I loved Wings3D, learning Blender has been a long time coming. Wings3D feels like a toy compared to how powerful and versatile Blender is. Anyway, here's my first model: a tea cup.

Started experimenting with wings as a mechanism for flying for a game! We're definitely gonna continue exploring what we can do with this. :) #gamedev #indie #indiegame #vr #wings
That feeling when you're like "I'm gonna implement one small, cool thing" and then you have to flesh out the entire data structure of your game to get the "small" thing to work right. Guess it's better to do this now than later though!
Alright, I disappeared for a bit. I left my toxic family household, am on antidepressants, and am in therapy. I actually feel hopeful and I do things because I want to/am excited about them, instead of going through motions because I should. New dev gifs/images coming soon. :D
So over the next few days I'll be working on my GDD for a game I'm extremely hyped about and have dreamed about for a long time; in addition to that I'll be running through Unity and Blender courses on Udemy since my skillz are not up to where they need to be for that game yet.
*but targeting whales and gambling addicts (the currency bought would have been exchanged either for crafting mats directly or for currency that could be gambled with) just felt sleazy. Also I just don't like idle games much, though it's more fun to make one than to play one imo.
K so I've been a bit MIA lately. Going through a rough depression. I've canned my last game (ISF1) which was going to be an idle game about being a space pirate with Diablo-like loot, weapon mods, set equips, and crafting. And MTs. A lot of them. Entirely optional to progress but
