Working on a few things and gotta say, following your own advice is hard sometimes 😂 Trusting the process and the power of iteration.

Working with a company that put an offer out for a new Engineering Manager without having their peer Product or Program Manager involved in the interview process. This seems like a recipe for disaster. What do you think?

Project mgmt happens everywhere whether you realize it or not. Had a DMV appt today. First I understood the requirements, broke out everything into tasks, figured how long everything would take, and now I’m executing on the plan. Where do you see project mgmt in your life?

Screw the “plan”. I just want to ensure teams know what the next priority is.

Projects exist for one of two reasons: 1. To capture an opportunity 2. To solve a problem Projects = change. But it all starts with someone who refuses to accept the current situation. That someone could be you.

When meeting someone new, it never fails that as soon as they ask me what I do for a living, their eyes start to glaze over. What’s your go to explanation of project or program management that makes it ‘click’ for people?

Track progress without impeding progress. This is every PMs charge, but how to accomplish this up to you.

Build in time for thinking. Sometimes my to-do list seems too long and I spin for a second on what to do next. This is what focus time is for. Categorize that list to figure out priority (the Eisenhower Matrix is a good start) so you can get traction and take action.

It’s Monday and back to reality. What’s your go to Monday morning routine? I like to get up a little early so I can enjoy my coffee before logging in.

Day 1 at Epcot and let’s just say we’ve already had a lot of learnings for our next few days at Disney.

Is there anything better than the pre-vacation prep work?

There is no single path into project management. My peers range in backgrounds from pilot, to artist, to developer.

Intake > Evaluation > Planning > Execution > Closeout > Operations Most teams think execution is the most important phase, but everything before it could make or break it. Everything after it ensures we learn and do better next time.
